Retaining Green Spaces

Construction

Before zoning was put in place, many communities saw rapid building of all types. Industries would move into an area, build their complexes and set aside land for housing. It often resulted in a lack of harmony within the community, so modern planning boards have begun to restrict how much can be built in any one place. Retaining green spaces throughout the community has become an important part of maintaining property values by giving residents and business areas where nature can be enjoyed.

It might appear to many onlookers that this type of regulation would inhibit the growth of business, but many small and industrial business owners welcome it. They will be part of the community along with their workers, and the value of their homes and businesses will continue to rise. While it might be difficult to work within the bounds of the zoning board, they are able to attract good workers from other communities that are not as welcoming.
